How Do You Know If Your Charity Wristbands Donation Is Getting Where It Should?

You might have seen your friends and other people wearing colorful wristbands. After all they have become a great sight and an evolving fashion trend as well. But do you know that they are actually available in large numbers as charity wristbands? And as you buy charity wristbands , all the money that you spend on them goes straight for the charity that the band is supporting. But the matter of the fact is how do you know if your charity wristbands donation is getting where it should? Can they be really trusted?

Before we discuss this major aspect of charity wristbands, it is important to know what charity bands are and how do they work. So, let’s have a sneak peek at charity wristbands.

The charity wristbands are among the most popular trends of the new Millennium. Wearing a charity band is to display publicly one’s support for the particular noble organization. When you donate to any particular foundation or organization, they give you a charity wristband as a token of appreciation.

Initially made famous by the Livestrong wristbands in yellow color from Lance Armstrong Foundation, the present day wristbands can be availed in any texture or color and size. Generally they are made of rubber or plastic, while there are also some made of wood, metal or string. Their color actually tells you about the cause they are promoting. For instance, the wristband of green color supports the cause of Cancer with the message ‘Reach the Day’.

Buying charity wristbands and donating money to the charity is indeed a worthy cause but it should always be carried out with honesty. There are some allegations against buying wristbands for charity. Some people think it is as waste of money on the name of charity. According to these people, by the time the band’s cost and other commissions get in place, a very little amount is left on the name of charity in the end.

And this is a fact about these charity bands that people ignore. After you pay the charity as a wristband and wear it on your wrist, awfully little amount actually comes to the people who need charity.

As you want to check the genuineness of charity bands and want to know whether your charity is going where it should be, I want to ask you why don’t you go and donate directly. The act cannot charitable when you are buying and using the bands as a fashion accessory or item. You are ready to pay four times more of what they cost because you want to own them, as they look COOL! This part of the charitable act makes it really sad.

Another very important thing for you to know is that due to the rising popularity of these charity bands, there are many such fake items available in the market as a piece of charity. The market is full of them and they are available very easily. The main motive of these fake bands is to attract fashion crazies. Many US schools have forbidden the entry of bands as they are cheating children. The vendors are selling such bands for their own profits, so where is the charity?

There is a word of caution about these charity wristbands: Make it sure that you buy the charity wristbands from the authorized sources. Only then it will go where it should be and the needy will be benefited.

Rubber Bracelets

There has been a surge in the popularity of rubber bracelets in recent years.

The most popular of these would surely be the ‘Livestrong’ wristband that is for the support of the Lance Armstrong Foundation for people battling with cancer. The money from the sale of these rubber wristbands supports the funding of the foundation.

Many different charities and foundations now use rubber bracelets to support their cause and sell them for varying prices in an effort to raise money. As these rubber bracelets are highly visual they also help to raise awareness and help for others.

Another popular rubber bracelet is the ‘Support our Troops’ wristband that you will see on many people, particularly those who have family members in active duty in the military overseas.

Rubber bracelets allow the opportunity for many different types of customization possibilities aside from the many and varied colors that they are produced in.

They can be worn as a fashion accessory, as a sign of support for a charity, and even as a medical aid where they can store important medical information for the wearer should they ever need medical assistance.

The fact that there are so many different uses for rubber bracelets has been the reason why they are more popular now than ever.

Many rubber bracelets are embossed with different messages and words that people like to share with others.

There is also an increase in the number of hobbyists who are crafting their own custom rubber bracelets and there are several books on the market that deal with this hobby in depth.

If you have a charity, then a rubber bracelet might be the solution you have been looking for to attract funds and bring to other people’s awareness the message that you are trying to convey.

As a cost effective method of spreading the word there aren’t many methods that can be quite as effective for a small groups.

Have Too Much? Give It To Charity!

Every person I know has a house filled with many things. Go into your bedroom and look in your closet. I am quite sure that you do not wear all of the clothes you see (although congratulations if you do!). And I am equally sure that you do not really need all ten pairs of similar black dress shoes. Or take a glance at your recreation gear in the garage. When is the last time you actually used those cross-country skis? There is a solution - a great solution - to downsize your life and do something great for your community at the same time. Give to charity. There are a variety of suitable organizations who would be glad to take your excess possessions of your hands.

Deciding to give to charity is a perfect way to accomplish many good things all at once. Obviously, giving to charity is a great way to help those in need. You may have many extra pairs of pants, but it is quite likely that many people in your town struggle to afford owning more than one or two pairs at once. You might be shocked if you knew all of the common, every day needs people live with each day. Out of your excess you can help the increase the quality of life for others. What an amazing thing to be a part of.

Giving to charity is not only great for those who receive the items, it is also great for those who give. That is right. Giving will fast become something you treasure. Nothing feels better than practicing generosity, and you will quickly find that you will look for ways to simplify your life in order to bless others. Giving to charity will also give you the chance to simplify your overcomplicated life. As years go by people tend to gather more things than they can use at once. Just think back to when you first moved into your current home or apartment. Remember how you did not have enough to fill all of your closests and pantries? Look at those same closets and pantries now and I bet you will find that they are overflowing. Do you remember where those glasses came from? Who gave you that wool sweater again?

But how do you decide what to give to charity and what to keep? I will give you a few practical tips. With clothing, if you have not worn it at all during the last two years, chances are high that you will not have a need to wear it again. Household items can be a little harder to separate, but a good rule of thumb is that if you cannot remember the last time you used it, you probably do not need it. Just begin going through your possessions and decide as you go. If you are in doubt about an item, ask yourself these questions: do I really need it? Will I really use this? Is there someone else who could use this item more than me?

Giving to charity is a wonderful way to simplify your home, learn to see the needs of others and meet them all at the same time. Why not take a quick walk through your house and consider giving some of your things to charity today.

Donating A Used Vehicle To A Charity

If you are interested in making charitable donations and claiming then on your tax return then you should consider donating a used vehicle to a charity. This will allow you to claim a deduction on your tax returns. However, there are some rules you will need to follow and some safeguards you should keep in mind.

The first thing you should do is check to see if the organization you plan on donating the vehicle to is qualified. This is actually very easy to do and all you need is an Internet connection. Go to the IRS web site and search charitable organizations and see if the one you plan on donating to is listed. If the organization is not listed then you will not be able to claim the donation on your tax returns, so this is an important step to take.

Another important question you need to ask the charity is what are their plans for the vehicle? You have every right to ask this question and receive a reasonable response. Some charities might accept vehicle donations and then sell them in order to raise money while other charities might use the car for poor people without transportation. Regardless, find out what the vehicle will be used for before you donate it. If you do not receive an answer then perhaps you will look for a different charitable organization to donate to.

Also, the IRS requires that you determine the fair market value of the vehicle to claim on your taxes. Reporting the Blue Book value is not an option, so you will have to come up with the fair market value. Fortunately, there are several IRS guides that will help you determine this number.

Another tip is to find out what laws govern the donating of a vehicle to charity in your state. Some states will require you to transfer the title to the charitable organization while other states handle the transfer differently. Also, you will need to remove any license tags from the vehicle before giving it to the charitable organization. This will keep the car separate from you once you have donated it.

After you have done the research required for donating your vehicle to charity, if you still have additional questions then you should call the IRS directly to have your questions answered. This is really the only way to get accurate information so do not rely on what the charitable organization tells you. Make sure the IRS provides you with your information.
Donating anything to charity is a good action, especially if you donate a vehicle, because you are allowing others with little to nothing lives to be a little easier. However, take care when making donations in order to make the most of them on your tax returns.

Choose To Be A Volunteer

One of the oldest adages known to mankind is from both the Golden Rule and the Christian Bible: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." "It is better to give than receive."

In today's society, those sentiments all too often get shoved aside to pave the way for personal ambition, financial success, instant gratification, and other very self rewarding behaviors we've learned. It's all dog-eat-dog and "me first."

However, humanity hasn't really changed that much: A person's most basic, primal instinct is self-preservation and self-protection.

This is certainly understandable; we are inherently "wired" to hang on, to keep on going, to try harder -- even when the "going" gets tough, as they say.

Euphemisms aside, here's a secret, and it's very, very simple: When you show appreciation for others and give of yourself, you will reap innumerable pleasurable benefits -- for yourself, of course -- but more, much more importantly, for the other person or people we're affecting.

Why? Here's another easy answer: Our second most basic instinct is simply this: to help others.

Sure, the world's a mess -- depending on how you look at it. Perspective changes everything, and when you DO change your perspective, say, from negative to positive, you won't believe the effects it will have on both your mental and physical
well-being.

When's the last time you visited a elderly person? Remember, if we're lucky, we're all going to be "elderly" someday. Can you recall how you felt while you were in this person's presence? Can you remember thinking, "I want to make this person happy; nothing else really matters right now"?

Or when you drop a dollar in the blind man's tin bucket as he plays guitar on the street, don't you feel more humble, more a part of the world around you, and closer to everyone, in that one moment? When's the last time a really simple act of kindness on your behalf nearly brought tears to your eyes or gave you a chill?"

Those moments are precious to our very spirit, because they fulfill part of our reason to be here: to switch channels from the "me" category and, even just for a moment, appreciate the light and happiness we can bring to others -- simply by paying attention to them, and simply by sharing who we are with who they are. It's often also said that "No man is an island." John Donne was right. We aren't meant to live alone; that's why there are so many of us!

Giving can be one of the most rewarding experiences in life. Volunteering has a positive effect on your community AND yourself.

One last hint: Don't assume that what would be rewarding to you is going to automatically be rewarding to others. Some people like amusement parks, others like opera. Some like fast food, others are vegetarian. Some people crave time off, others want recognition. You get the picture. Instead of spending money and energy into doing something for someone that they may not like or appreciate, just give of yourself. That's the only priceless gift.
