Perfected Mind Control

This is a thought paper on a concept I've calling Perfected Mind Control or PMC for short.
With PMC I want to develop a system of mind control that does all or most of the end results of traditional mind control but is absent of all the coercive elements that are described in Robert Jay Lifton 's Eight Point Model of Thought Reform.

So, you see, I'm walking a fine line here but see something that could have some promise.
Terminology note: Today Mind control or brainwashing in academia is commonly referred to as coercive persuasion, coercive psychological systems or coercive influence. The short description below comes from Dr. Margaret Singer , professor emeritus at the University of California at Berkeley the acknowledged leading authority in the world on mind control and cults. This document, in substance, was presented to the U.S. Supreme Court as an educational Appendix on coercive psychological systems in the case Wollersheim v. Church of Scientology 89-1367 and 89-1361. The Wollersheim case was being considered related to issues involving abuse in this area.

The Goal of Perfected Mind Control (PMC) is to completely minimize or eliminate any perception of coercion while expanding the subjects ability to choose. Is it mind control? Yes. It is designed so that the subject gains greater control of their mind and a higher degree of flexibility in their responses. Is PMC coercive? You be the judge.

Coercion is defined as, "to restrain or constrain by force..." Legally it often implies the use of PHYSICAL FORCE or physical or legal threat. This traditional concept of coercion is far better understood than the technological concepts of "coercive persuasion" which are effective restraining, impairing, or compelling through the gradual application of PSYCHOLOGICAL FORCES.

A coercive persuasion program is a behavioral change technology applied to cause the "learning" and "adoption" of a set of behaviors or an ideology under certain conditions. It is distinguished from other forms of benign social learning or peaceful persuasion by the conditions under which it is conducted and by the techniques of environmental and interpersonal manipulation employed to suppress particular behaviors and to train others. Over time, coercive persuasion, a psychological force akin in some ways to our legal concepts of undue influence, can be even MORE effective than pain, torture, drugs, and use of physical force and legal threats.

The Korean War "Manchurian Candidate" misconception of the need for suggestibility-increasing drugs, and physical pain and torture, to effect thought reform, is generally associated with the old concepts and models of brainwashing. Today, they are not necessary for a coercive persuasion program to be effective. With drugs, physical pain, torture, or even a physically coercive threat, you can often temporarily make someone do something against their will. You can even make them do something they hate or they really did not like or want to do at the time. They do it, but their attitude is not changed.

The phrase against their will implies that an individual has a clear preset intention. The truth is that very very few people have thought out their intentions to the degree that something else cannot be suggested. As a central understanding of Perfected Mind Control this concept allows for only the rare few who actually have a will to be excluded from any influence.

This is much different and far less devastating than that which you are able to achieve with the improvements of coercive persuasion. With coercive persuasion you can change people's attitudes without their knowledge and volition. You can create new "attitudes" where they will do things willingly which they formerly may have detested, things which previously only torture, physical pain, or drugs could have coerced them to do.

The key to PMC is to present all new concepts in terms of learning and all form of rejection in terms of judgment and prejudice

The advances in the extreme anxiety and emotional stress production technologies found in coercive persuasion supersede old style coercion that focuses on pain, torture, drugs, or threat in that these older systems do not change attitude so that subjects follow orders "willingly." Coercive persuasion changes both attitude AND behavior, not JUST behavior.

THE PURPOSES AND TACTICS OF COERCIVE PERSUASION
Coercive persuasion or thought reform as it is sometimes known, is best understood as a coordinated system of graduated coercive influence and behavior control designed to deceptively and surreptitiously manipulate and influence individuals, usually in a group setting, in order for the originators of the program to profit in some way, normally financially or politically.

The essential strategy used by those operating such programs is to systematically select, sequence and coordinate numerous coercive persuasion tactics over CONTINUOUS PERIODS OF TIME. There are seven main tactic types found in various combinations in a coercive persuasion program. A coercive persuasion program can still be quite effective without the presence of ALL seven of these tactic types.

PURPOSE AND TACTICS OF 'PERFECTED MIND CONTROL
The purpose of PMC is to liberate the mind from automatic and unconscious responses that are painful. The tactics are designed to have a minimum of judgment and moralization to them so to cause minimal discomfort. The tactics emphasize choice and self-awareness with a constant invitation to leave and rejoin in the learning.

TACTIC 1. The individual is prepared for thought reform through increased suggestibility and/or "softening up," specifically through hypnotic or other suggestibility-increasing techniques such as: A. Extended audio, visual, verbal, or tactile fixation drills; B. Excessive exact repetition of routine activities; C. Decreased sleep; D. Nutritional restriction.

In order for anyone to accept a new concept, yes, they must be softened up . However with PMC this is done by simply pointing out the ways in which a persons responses and choices are automatic and how the automatic response limits their ability to choose.

TACTIC 2. Using rewards and punishments, efforts are made to establish considerable control over a person's social environment, time, and sources of social support. Social isolation is promoted. Contact with family and friends is abridged, as is contact with persons who do not share group-approved attitudes. Economic and other dependence on the group is fostered. (In the forerunner to coercive persuasion, brainwashing, this was rather easy to achieve through simple imprisonment.)

More subtle punishments have greater power. Stunned glaring silence for example or merely looking at the floor with shaking the head have a strong impact on the internal feelings of the subject. Also, simply asking in a Dr. Phil type tone How has that been working for you? will allow the subject to compare their automatic behavior with their ideal response.

TACTIC 3. Disconfirming information and nonsupporting opinions are prohibited in group communication. Rules exist about permissible topics to discuss with outsiders. Communication is highly controlled. An "in-group" language is usually constructed.

Keeping the discussion on topic is important to PMC. That does allow for debate and to a point debate should be encouraged. The central point of PMC is on freedom and flexibility of choice. If debate turns the topic away from that the subject should be acknowledged for contributing and asked to return to the topic. If the distraction continues the subject should be compassionately told that they aren't yet ready to learn and that it's not their fault and asked to return at another time or simply remain silent and listen.

TACTIC 4. Frequent and intense attempts are made to cause a person to re-evaluate the most central aspects of his or her experience of self and prior conduct in negative ways. Efforts are designed to destabilize and undermine the subject's basic consciousness, reality awareness, world view, emotional control, and defense mechanisms as well as getting them to reinterpret their life's history, and adopt a new version of causality.

Perfected Mind Control instead focuses first on the subject to re-evaluate any aspect of their life in any new way. The degree of success is measured by how the subject responds positively to this new (but perhaps even minor) insight. Thus making a paved path ready for any further insights.

TACTIC 5. Intense and frequent attempts are made to undermine a person's confidence in himself and his judgment, creating a sense of powerlessness.

As in pointing out times when their behaviors did not match up to their stated values. While this does have some limited value the emphasis of PMC is on the reward that comes from greater choices and increased flexibility.

TACTIC 6. Nonphysical punishments are used such as intense humiliation, loss of privilege, social isolation, social status changes, intense guilt, anxiety, manipulation and other techniques for creating strong aversive emotional arousals, etc.

In Perfected Mind Control this is completely avoided by making the only punishment silence or shaking the head slightly while looking at the ground. Silence without judgment so that the judgment can only be inferred.

TACTIC 7. Certain secular psychological threats [force] are used or are present: That failure to adopt the approved attitude, belief, or consequent behavior will lead to severe punishment or dire consequence, (e.g. physical or mental illness, the reappearance of a prior physical illness, drug dependence, economic collapse, social failure, divorce, disintegration, failure to find a mate, etc.).

In Perfected Mind Control the only psychological threat is not being one of us . This puts the subject into one of two other catagories them and undecided . Old Mind control methods made it only us/them while the the undecided allows the subject more ease to return to us . For the people employing Perfected Mind Control this system has a bigger picture. It creates a dichotomy for the us to rally against. And those who are undecided can still be in the loop of communication.

In Perfected Mind Control people will be asked and encouraged to leave the group to find out what more is out there . Their choice to return or not is always respected. Those who return will do so with more commitment and those who leave will still be in the loop of communication.
Another set of criteria has to do with defining other common elements of mind control systems. If most of Robert Jay Lifton's eight point model of thought reform is being used in a cultic organization, it is most likely a dangerous and destructive cult. These eight points follow:

Robert Jay Lifton's Eight Point Model of Thought Reform

1.ENVIRONMENT CONTROL. Limitation of many/all forms of communication with those outside the group. Books, magazines, letters and visits with friends and family are taboo. "Come out and be separate!"

Perfected Mind Control discourage limitations such as move in with our commune by making it hard to do unless under the right circumstances or with only proper preparation. By doing this only the most committed will attempt to do so while others are given a model to aspire. Perfected Mind Control also encourages exposure to outside information within the context of ...comparing it to what you now know with us . By doing this the illusion of choice is always present.

2. MYSTICAL MANIPULATION. The potential convert to the group becomes convinced of the higher purpose and special calling of the group through a profound encounter / experience, for example, through an alleged miracle or prophetic word of those in the group.

Perfected Mind Control will emphasize that the only higher purpose is understanding that sense of right and wrong unconsciously filters what they are able to learn. Therefore morality is a hindrance to learning. And learning is the key to ultimate freedom and the flexibility to enjoy and deal with anything that life gives you.

3. DEMAND FOR PURITY. An explicit goal of the group is to bring about some kind of change, whether it be on a global, social, or personal level. "Perfection is possible if one stays with the group and is committed."

In Perfected Mind Control (PMC) the demand for purity is replaced by the demand to truly learn. To Truly learn can only be done by testing and putting aside judgment.

4. CULT OF CONFESSION. The unhealthy practice of self disclosure to members in the group. Often in the context of a public gathering in the group, admitting past sins and imperfections, even doubts about the group and critical thoughts about the integrity of the leaders.

The PMC model replaces confession of wrongs with exploration of wants, needs and desires. This dynamic will automatically reveal what the subject thinks they are doing wrong or want to improve without the overt sense of guilt or shame. Guilt and shame fall into the category of Bad Thing .

5. SACRED SCIENCE. The group's perspective is absolutely true and completely adequate to explain EVERYTHING. The doctrine is not subject to amendments or question. ABSOLUTE conformity to the doctrine is required.

For Perfected Mind Control the only truth that adequately explains everything is that We experience the world only by perception. Therefore if we can gain control of our perception we gain control of our world.

6. LOADED LANGUAGE. A new vocabulary emerges within the context of the group. Group members "think" within the very abstract and narrow parameters of the group's doctrine. The terminology sufficiently stops members from thinking critically by reinforcing a "black and white" mentality. Loaded terms and clich s prejudice thinking.

New vocabulary will emerge in any field of personal exploration and should be expected. PMC is no different.

7. DOCTRINE OVER PERSON. Pre-group experience and group experience are narrowly and decisively interpreted through the absolute doctrine, even when experience contradicts the doctrine.

PMCs only doctrine is the commitment to self-exploration. All other fields of study are permissible. This allows the subject to define their own doctrine and discard it when needed to reform a new one.

8. DISPENSING OF EXISTENCE. Salvation is possible only in the group. Those who leave the group are doomed.

Instead of only two categories of saved and doomed PMC allows for a minimum of three catagories Those who get it. Those who don't want it. and Those who don't know about it. this allows those who leave the group to fall only into the category of Those who don't know about it. and thus permits them to return. The Those who don't want it. category is only used as a reference point or for those people who advocate the opposite of freedom and flexibility.

Never Act Predictably

There exists an understanding among con men, comedians, stage magicians and mind control experts that comes down to a simple axiom.

"Now one can defend against what they can cannot predict."

This is how comedians make you laugh. They allow you to assume one thing and then shock you into laughter with another.

Con men come out of the blue, never telling their mark that they are going to con them and steal their money.

Stage magicians use misdirection that causes their audience to assume one thing while something else entirely is taking place.

Guerilla War of Minds

Mind Control, the covert attempt to influencing others thoughts, is no different. You are required to create a context where the subject will naturally assume what you want them to without ever having to say it overtly. So something that seems to come "out of the blue" can be of great benefit.

There are two benefits to this strategy. First, it will aid the subject to draw their own conclusion. Second, it will stop them from making their usual assumptions and create what is called in NLP a "pattern interrupt".

Pattern Interrupt

Think about all the things that you do that are habitual, a handshake, opening a door, reacting to something pleasant or disturbing. All these are patterns engrained deeply into thought and behavior. When they are interrupted the usual thought process stops. For example you reach to open a door and it's actually locked. Or when you extend your right hand to offer a handshake and the person reaches with his left hand to complete the handshake.

In each of these cases we are brought from our usual pattern to one that does not match our expectations.

Creating Mystery

Doing this well on a regular basis in various subtle and not- so-subtle ways will elicit several types of responses from people. The most general response is that they will separate you from the norm of people that they experience, but that happens with crazy and annoying people all the time. The key here is to do it in a way that envelops you in a sense of mystery. Having that sense of mystery combined with a supreme sense of confidence creates a unique attraction from those you wish to effect. Think about it, there is something mysterious and comforting about you. That's a nice combination.

How do you do that?

* Work outside others experience. You can do this alluding to things that you know but that are secret. Saying with a kind smile "I don't think I know you well enough." will create the proper patter interrupt and make them more open to you.

* Unfold the extraordinary from the ordinary. Describe ordinary things as if there is something much deeper within them. An ash tray can be symbolism for how we burn away the things that don't help us. A doorway represent stepping into a new awareness. A room can represent a special place with the mind where we hold our deeper thoughts.

* Act crazy. This should be done infrequently but can have a dramatic effect if the person has a strong rapport with and you set the context of your "craziness" as being very personal and serious. When the "craziness" is complete act as if nothing happened. This may risk shocking the person into fear or bind them closer to you in trust so caution must be taken.

* Keep moving. Don't rest on your laurels. Continue to think of subtle ways to interrupt peoples consistent more thinking. Humor will be one of your best allies here because itis the most socially acceptable form of pattern interrupt.

The best way to "rise above" in this manner is to present everything that usual to their experience and nothing that is ordinarily.

"Mouth to Mouth" a cult perspective: a Movie Review

As a person interested in "group influence" it would be well worth anyones while to rent/buy the movie "Mouth to Mouth".

Based on the directors brief experience in Europe as part of cult the story centers around Sherry, a young runaway meets the radical street collective SPARK - Street People Armed with Radical Knowledge - while she is living on the streets of Europe. She travels through the continent in the SPARK van, recruiting members from street gangs and disenfranchised youth at raves and town squares and experiencing the group's giddy thrills as well as its punishing manipulations. Searching for a place to belong where she can still be herself, Sherry thinks she has found this in SPARK, but when her mother comes to find her, Sherry discovers that she must pay a heavy personal price for rebellion. Director, Alison Murray combines drama, suspense and choreographed movement in an intense, stylish and provocative look at youth culture, the struggles of parenthood, and the dark side of nonconformity.

What one can learn about "group influence" from this film is how easy it is to influence people when you offer them a sense of community and a little hope and encouragement.

The formula becomes very clear.
1) treat them as your friend and show interest in them as a person.

2) Act like you know what you're talking about.

3) Give them the idea that they are part of something bigger, a cause.

4) Enforce obedience to the group cause.

You can also learn how easy it is for a group leader to abuse the power that is given him.

All the characters in this movie have SOMETHING in them that we can empathize with, even the abusive cult leader.

How to Survive An Evil Cult (Humor)

Below are some basic tips for evil cult leaders and members:

Pick one faith and stay with it. Dilettantism is the mark of an amateur.

Familiarize yourself with the specifications for sacrificial victims, and ensure that unacceptable substitutes cannot be unexpectedly introduced into the ceremony.

If the penalty for not-to-specs work is death and/or mutilation, consider working for a more fault-tolerant deity.

Avoid needless embarrassment. Practice the correct pronunciation of your deity's name in the privacy of your own room before chanting it in public. Flash cards are often helpful.

Before agreeing to impregnation by a supernatural being, investigate the survival rate of the other women who have undergone the procedure.

Never invoke anything bigger than your head.

Eschew deities whose followers are all young; such faith groups usually employ an unpleasant retirement procedure.

Avoid all cabalistic jewelry over ten pounds in weight - it attracts unwelcome attention from tourists, policemen, various supernatural creatures, and can be downright dangerous during thunderstorms. Its jingling also tends to warn the hero of your approach.

Citronella candles may not be used in rituals. I cannot stress this enough. Pastel colored candles in the shape of cute animals are like direct sunlight to the Powers of Darkness.

Fluorescent lighting is very annoying to most netherworldly creatures.

When the Black Mass goes awry, stay away from the Evil Priest. Enraged demons always go for the pompous.

When a religious artifact begins emitting light, CLOSE YOUR EYES. Thousands of cult members could be saved every year if they followed this simple safety tip.

When mutilating cattle, avoid the ones with testicles.

During ritual sacrificing, taking bits home for later is now generally considered "bad form."

Contrary to historical belief, drugs and invocations do not mix. When the ritual goes awry, it is vitally necessary to be able to discern between the gibbering monstrosity to pump full of silver bullets and the gibbering monstrosity that will fade away after a few hours, some B complex, and a good hot bath.

Piety and belief are powerful things, and few forces in nature, can stand against one who is true to his faith, his god/goddess, and the deal made in exchange for the soul. However, it is also true that gods tend toside with the heaviest artillery, so be prepared to change sides at the drop of a hat.

For those situations where a fresh, living, sacrifice is not available, the lower ranks of demons can be fooled by microwaving a previously frozen chunk of ex-victim and cleverly jiggling it. However, a mock victim sculpted from SPAM is unacceptable.

Instead of picking human victims who are young, virginal and innocent (and tend to turn out to be the Hero's girlfriend), see if you can substitute mass murderers, lawyers, and other people who won't be missed.

Mind Control Over Teenages

The Mosquito™ ultrasonic teenage deterrent is the solution to the eternal problem of unwanted gatherings of youths and teenagers in shopping malls, around shops and anywhere else they are causing problems. The presence of these teenagers discourages genuine shoppers and customers’ from coming into your shop, affecting your turnover and profits. Anti social behavior has become the biggest threat to private property over the last decade and there has been no effective deterrent until now.

Acclaimed by the Police forces of many areas of the United Kingdom, the Mosquito ultrasonic teenage deterrent has been described as “the most effective tool in our fight against anti social behavior”. Shop keepers around the world have purchased the device to move along unwanted gatherings of teenagers and anti social youths. Railway companies have placed the device to discourage youths from spraying graffiti on their trains and the walls of stations.

With an effective range of between forty five and sixty feet Compound Security Systems’ field trials have shown that teenagers are acutely aware of the Mosquito and usually move away from the area within an average of 8- 10 minutes. The system is completely harmless even with long term use. The Times newspaper in England reports that the device was first used at a Spar shop (convenience store) in Barry, South Wales, where the owner Robert Gough was enthusiastic about the device's success in driving away the local youths. "Either someone has come along and wiped them off the face of the earth, or it's working" he is quoted as saying. Since then, there have been literally hundreds of successful reports not only from police and local authorities, but also from business owners.

It seems that there is a very real medical phenomenon known as presbycusis or age related hearing loss which, according to The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy, "begins after the age of 20 but is usually significant only in persons over 65". It first affects the highest frequencies (18 to 20 kHz) notably in those who have turned 20 years of age". It is possible to generate a high frequency sound that is audible only to teenagers.

Is your business suffering from anti social youths driving your customers away or generally causing damage or nuisance?

Are you bothered by crowds of teenager’s hanging around your street and making life unpleasant?

Mosquito™ ultrasonic deterrent can solve your problem.

How to Have Power over Others.

If power begins in controlling something, then are we powerless prior to controlling?

Yes and no.
We have potential, which is a power in itself, but unused and undirected potential is NOTHING.

Are we powerless prior to controlling?

I would say we are not powerless, but ignorant (Which is a version of powerlessness, I guess.)

We don't know that we have power and don't know to know to test it.

The end of all powerlessness begins with awareness.

A Samurai Warrior would learn this by practicing a meditation of sitting on the top of a mountain with his arm extended and sword pointing skyward in a position ready to fall. He would meditate on that fleeting moment when a balanced piece of metal would turn into an unpredictable falling/killing weapon. His awareness was on the potential of the weapon. When he learned that then he could study the application of it's power.

What is power?
What is power like?
How great is power?
Where is power now?

To Know. To Will. To Dare. To Keep Silent.
These were the powers of the Sphinx and they remain dormant in all of us to one degree or another.

You don't know what you don't know. Thus you must seek knowledge in whatever realm you wish to control.

You must Will and Dare to use that knowledge.

To keep silent. This is where power turns to craft. It is the most subtle application of power. So subtle it may seem that things are all happening in your favor when in fact they happen by your design.

A bolder resting precariously on a cliff, a bow string pulled tight, these have a quality of potential force, What the Chinese strategist, Sun Tsu, called "shih". With just the right action and the force is unleashed.

The silent art of power and control is to see the potential force in everything and arrange it so that, if released, it works in your favor.

The keys to this power are first to know what you want far into the future and to know it in rich and glorious detail. The next step is to develop a presice and detailed plan to your goal and to meditate upon it day in and day out. By having this constantly on your mind you will function with the greatest efficiency toward your goal.

You will see the world about and know "This action will lead me to my goal. This action will lead me nowhere."

This task that is unnatural for most of us because of our natural tendency to focus on the thoughts of the present and to respond to the urgencies at hand. To master this skill we must alter our thinking and see every action that we perform as an act of manipulating "shih".

To do this is the height of Sphinx-like power and makes mere men to seem magical as if they controlled the forces of nature.

We All Want POWER

Admit it or not, we all have a need for power.

Power provides each of us with several very essencial things; the feeling of being in control, the feeling that we're right, a sense of security and the hope that we can accomplish what we want most for ourselves.

With Mind Control there is no doubt that it appeals to that very base need for power.

Even the most introspective and peace loving have to admit that the real power of mind control comes in two forms 1) external - controlling others and the environment and 2) internal - the ability to control our own thoughts, feelings and responses.

Here is a little mind control tip that anyone can use that will appeal to both aspects of mind control.

When interacting with someone what can you do to allow them to perceive as if they have power?

A simple example is ask them to do something that is slightly outside of what they believe is their current ability. In asking that give them the support and encouragement that they need to get the job done.

Here are the benefits as they relate to mind control.

First it will demonstrate to you that you have at least some power over people and your environment secondly, and most importantly, it will demonstrate that you have some personal and internal control over yourself to do it.

The main problem with people who suffer from shyness and want to control it that they are too much in their own heads wondering "What should I do next?" or telling themselves "This is stupid." In so doing they are not truly aware of their external surroundings and therefore not able to control it.

By taking charge in this small way anyone can begin to see the real benefits of mind control.

Can you create an Addiction in Someone? Yes!

With all the paranoia of mind control and how Neuro Linguistic Probramming (NLP) can be (and is) used to "mess with peoples heads" it's high time to pull the cat out of hte bag and let people know exactly what is possible.

For example, can you create an addiction in someone using Neuro Linguistic  Programming (NLP)?

Yes, you can.

Before you learn the steps to do it and how to protect yourself, let me give you two warnings.

First, don't do this to people unless you are giving them a compulsion for something they want that will be good for them like exercize and healthy foods. Anything else and it may seem fun to think about but leave it at that. Only think about it, don't do it. It's just not a nice thing to do to people.

Second, To do this you have to be very good at NLP, report building and anchoring etc.

Start by eliciting what is called the NLP submodalities of a compulsion a person has. You can do this by asking what are some things they have compulsions for, like chocolate, and then asking "As you feel that complusion what sort of images is your mind making? Where do you see those pictures? How big are the images? Color or Black and White? " and so on.

Then begin to describe what you want them to have a compulsion/addiction for in exactly the same way. Describe the new compulsion as being seen in the same place, etc.

I'm not going to give you any more detail than that. It's more than enough to experiment with.

Using this pattern a person can create a compulsion for drugs, sex, money, perfection, driving fast, you name it, but  you can also create compulsions for exercize, punctuality, orderlyness and many so-called "good" things.

There are ways to prevent someone from covertly creating a compulsion in you. First be aware of the mental and emotional states that people are asking you to describe and be on guard when they start to talk about compulsions.

If you suspect someone has helped covertly create an unwanted compulsion in you (good luck) the compulsion can be undone with what is called the meta yes/meta no process.

In Meta Yes/Meta No you'll start by thinking of something unrelated to the compulsion that you would say "No" to. Think of that item and bring up the very strong feeling and repeatedly say "No" in a very firm and congruent manner. Practice it until the "No!" and the feeling are deeply linked to one another. The next step is to begin saying "No!" repeatedly to the compulsion and do it with the same energy and conviction as when you started the process.
