Get away from it all
Haven't you ever had time you wanted to get away from it all? In March/April 1978, www.motherearthnews.com published a story about a couple who bought McLeod's Island — a 90-acre island off the coast of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.
They have a few animals, spend very little on groceries, and are pretty well sustained by the island itself. Although it does present them with some challenges:
"The sea, you know, is not called "restless" for nothing. A glass-smooth bay (as we've learned so well!) can churn-sometimes seemingly in seconds-into a windswept chaos of currents and combers. We've also seen that same bay (the one in which our island is located) thaw and then completely refreeze in just hours on a single December day.
Winters up here can be especially variable. Continual spring-like thaws throughout 1976's cold season, for instance, kept our bay filled with slushy ice that was too thick to push a boat through ... but too dangerous for even a fox to walk on. We were marooned for three full months, from the first of January until the end of March. Last winter's record cold snap, on the other hand, filled the bay so solidly with pack ice that we could hike back and forth to the mainland for our mail and toboggan loads of supplies any time we wanted."
For some of us, we find the Internet gives us the freedom to be able to work and live almost any place we want to. These people didn't have that luxury. I use the past tense as I can't find any current information about them. Who knows? Maybe the tide swept the out to sea.

Gay Trucker Questions
GAYTRUCKER QUESTIONS!
Thru the years of running various Gay Trucker related sites that I own.
I have had numerious questions about how you properly cruise a trucker.
Or how you properly pick a trucker up. For years, The Rest areas and Truck Stops have been cruisey.
Many states are clamping down on this. The main reason is cause most men are ( CRUISING WRONG! ) and ruining it for everyone else.
We all have to keep in mind that a Truck Stop or a Rest Area is a place of public.
What this means is, While you do your cruising there is , kids with there family at the Truck stop, ETC
and a certain measure of expertese and practice needs to take place to ( PROPERLY CRUISE ) these places.
And most importantly, So you dont get ( ARRESTED! ). And second most importantly, so you do not disturb
travelers passing thru that are not involved on what your trying to do.
Keep in mind that everyone will have there own theory and method as to how to cruise a Gay Trucker.
But one thing is a given, that there is also a ( WRONG ) way wich could lead to problems!.
You need to first figure out how to establish contact! Flashing your dam genitals on the highway is not really the ( PROPER ) way.
In fact , that method could get you arrested! Eye contact is one of the most important things.
This method of cruising will work in almost any establishment, or anywhere you so choose to use this method. And its legal! Your simply looking at someone. If this person continues to look back, giving you the idea that he may be interested, At this point then perhaps make your eye contact even more obvious. It does not hurt to go up and say ( HELLO ) to someone to. Use safe and proper judgement with this!. This method ( EYE CONTACT ) works well in bars for the most part. After all cruising is not just for truckers. It happens everywhere you turn , Humans are a ( animal ) according to science. This means when we are attracted to someone out of common instinct we will stare at someone. Its only NORMAL!.
Get a CB!, For decades this has been a popular method to ( ESTABLISH ) contact with a GayTrucker.
Some men use the DOUBLE CLICKING OF THE MIC method on the cb then may say ( 21 ) or another channel.
The other is hoping someone will follow them to that channel then a private conversation takes place on the CB!
Some use the method of Tapping the Brake lights in a rest area, or the dome light. This method may cause unwanted others noticing you.
Or possibly the cops. So use this method at your own risk. Most importantly, Do not get overboard with the tapping of brake lights and dome lights.
DO NOT!: Expose your self to a trucker or anyone for that matter. Unless your in the privacy of his bunk!.
This is a very RISKY way to cruise and as stated above. Could get you ( ARRESTED! ).
Keep in mind that there is just as many men or ( truckers ) out there that will bust you as there is that want to meet up with you.
Due to this scenario you need to ( PROPERLY ) cruise and not bother others that are not cruising or looking for the same thing your looking for.
There is also many other methods of cruising, Some less risky and others more risky.
Most importantly, If you go out there and cruise. Always have your guards up, Do not make stupid judgements or moves.
If you do it properly, The worse thing that can happen is a cop may ask you to leave but cant arrest you.

Gas Prices Are On Fire
As I write this article the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is just under $3.00 for a countrywide average. The price will only continue to rise as issues continue to heat up with Iran and the price of crude oil continues to climb.
I personally used to spend close to $400 per month on gas to commute back and forth to work and that was when gas was only $2.25 a gallon or so. I finally put a stop to that by starting my own website and working from home. Now I fill my tank once a month compared to 3-4 times per week.
I decided to write this article after seeing an interview on the Today Show with the CEO of Exxon. He was asked in this interview if his company was going to do anything to cut the prices for consumers this summer as prices get higher. He had to hold back from laughing. He went on to give the answer I figured he’d give, which was that they had a duty to shareholders to make them money. The interviewer said, “So, that is a NO then?” His response was, “We are in business to make money.”
So, knowing that the politicians are not doing anything to help you with gas prices and the companies are doing everything they can to milk you for every penny they can get, what can you do to reduce your fuel expenses? There are obvious answers to this question, such as buying a hybrid car or a more fuel efficient car in general. You can drive less just for fun. The days of cruising around are basically over. When I was in my teens I used to fill my tank and just cruise around and get lost. Not only was it relaxing for me to drive, I did some of my best thinking while driving, but I learned my way around very well. The days of joy riding are long gone.
I know my wife and I have started taking my Nissan Sentra out for family trips rather than her Nissan Murano. Her Murano gets excellent gas mileage for an SUV type vehicle but it costs nearly $60 to fill the tank as opposed to $31 for the Sentra.
Short of finding a new job closer to the home there is not much someone can do to lessen their fuel expenses. You need to get to work, you need to do errands on the weekends. Depending on the age of your kids you could potentially ride bikes to soccer or baseball practice (or whatever activity your kids are involved in). It is good exercise for you and the kids. Hopefully those locations are not very far from the house. Once again, if the oldest child is playing baseball and you have younger kids that can’t ride bikes this option is not available.
As American consumers our hands are tied. We are held hostage by the oil Czar’s of the world and the American oil corporations such as Exxon. Our politicians have not done enough to protect this from happening to us. Sure, they are all over the TV now “proposing” solutions to the gas price crisis but it is no good now.
Oil runs our lives. It helps to produce plastics, which mostly everything is made of now, electricity, gasoline for our vehicles, and much more. The price of oil continues to rise. The supply of oil is dwindling everyday as it is not a resource that is replaced. Once it is gone it is gone. I had previously asked what you can do to reduce your fuel expenses and there really is no answer to that. You may be able to get the hybrid cars, which are not really cost effective, a motorcycle, scooter, or ride a bike, if your life allows any of these options. The fact remains that you cannot escape the rising costs of oil. If you save on one end you will be hit on the other end. They will find a way to get their money.
Our only real way to make a difference is to change the way we vote and bring in politicians that actually have our best interest in mind instead of the big corporations. The Democrats like to say that the Republicans are the ones working for the rich and the big corporations but the truth is they both do. In fact, if you look at the stats of where the donations come from for the Presidential campaigns for those parties, the Democrats accept more from big corporations.
It may seem like this article had no direction, or maybe you understand what I was doing here. The only solution for us, as American citizens and consumers, is for us to vote the right people into office. All of the other talk, and other possible ways to reduce expenses, is nothing more than what I said, “talk”.

Funny Images and Videos Online
Images have always been useful on internet content, the first logos were mainly the name of the company with a simple drawing, then we got MS Paint, where people could make their own images, that was a revolution on image creating. Times passed, and new technologies appeared, today we see images even on the most simple and old-fashioned websites, 3D pictures, softwares like photoshop have taken control of the image producing and editing.
The videos we nowadays watch at You Tube, were not always like this, they were just simple presentions, with texts and sometimes a few images, now we can also watch 3D movies, hundreds of film editing softwares, we can now create moving images, starting from zero, and without a lot of acknowledge about softwares or image creating.
Images and videos have always been connected, since most videos are formed by images, not only films. In the past, we would only watch some commercial and business videos and images, nowadays we find any video and any image about anything, the internet is filled with content for all ages and likes.
But as everything, there is a bad side on that too, with funny images photos pics and videos being accessible by anyone who has a computer connected to the internet, a lot of bad content is being distributed around, criminality, porn, violence, even kids find content related to that, they may not wish so, but the internet has been such a mess, with advertising everywhere, that sometimes we can not choose what we want to see anymore, it just pops up and we are shown anything others are paying to show.
Of course, someone can have a lot of fun watching videos and finding nice images, comic strips, and obviously, serious content, all those videos and images available do certainly help a lot of people with their jobs and school work, have you ever imagined what it would be like if the internet was like the past, only black and white text pages? I can bet it would not be that popular if it was like that.
So, in general, the online images and videos have developed a lot in the past years, from simple logos to websites dedicated to images hosting, from text presentations to 3D videos and websites specialized on internet videos, it is hard to imagine what it will be like in a few years, with several ideas popping up every day, this industry still has a far market to take control!

Fuel for Thought
I see the following call to arms over high gas prices in the USA is making the rounds again ...
Here's a message I received recently from someone I know, who felt the need to transmit it to their entire e-mail address book:
GAS WAR-- An Idea
"This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It 's worth your consideration.
"Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $ 5.00 a gallon by next summer. Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action.
"Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy gas on a certain day' campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to 'hurt' ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can work. Please read on and join us!
"By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50-$1.75 and the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! We can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How?
"Force a price war:
"For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which are now one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. To have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. However, it's simple to do! Now don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
"I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers.
"If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it: THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
"Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!
"How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days! Acting together we can make a difference.

This has been attempted before, and it's never been successful. The basic reason is that the USA is a country with a very diverse populace. Any attempt to get an effective number of them to abide by the discipline such a plan would require is simply impractical.
However, that's not the point I want to make. I contend that these people are missing the real point:
Why can't the American public accept that the issue isn't high gas prices, but their stubborn subservience to gasoline?
The obvious answer is that gasoline is the established and easiest facilitator for personal transportation. And, as long as those facts remain, the Americans' habits will remain, as well.
Placed in a global perspective, $5.00 for a gallon of gas is not unusual. The difference is that the rest of the globe has accepted lifestyle adjustments and moved on to other issues.
One of the simplest of those adjustments to make is changing the location of the workplace. Move it from an office to home!
Cyberspace can make decentralization much more efficient. Some Fortune 500 companies began to embrace the concept over a decade ago. Bank of America, for instance, allows many of their executives to utilize a home-office relationship. Clearly, not every job allows its worker to perform at home, but there are enough that do. The effects would be subtle, but significant. For example, if even 20% of the vehicles in a commute were removed from the road, traffic congestion would be eased. That, in turn, would allow for better mileage in the vehicles that wouldn't be stuck in idling or stop-and-go sequences. That saves gas and reduces demand.
As e-commerce continues its relentless drive toward mainstream acceptance, numerous shopping trips can also be reduced. Cyber-meetings also are very possible now, and they can accommodate the sharing of documents. Even cyber-schooling could be expanded; Sweden has been operating a cyber-curriculum for the youth of its citizens abroad for years, which is a great way for its culture and high academic standards to be provided to those who work elsewhere.
So, any attempt to target Exxon --- or British Petroleum or Elf or Shell --- is Quixotic. Target yourself instead. You'll surely get much better mileage out of your time. You'll also probably notice an improvement in your monthly gasoline budget. In the bigger picture, as well, it's a simple plan which relies on simple market forces, ie- less demand lowers prices.
Small strategies are what win the wars. In this one, open your battlefront in cyberspace.

To talk about forgiveness is easy, and to forgive is difficult. Many a times it becomes impossible for some of us. For example if I am a mother. A criminal kidnaps my child and then slowly kills my child in my presence to derive sadistic pleasure, how will I feel? What about the cries of pain of my dying child? Will my mind forget them? What of the helplessness that I felt? What about the expectation with which my child looked at me and felt sure that mother would do something to save him/her? What of the helplessness I felt? What about the memories of bringing up my child? What about the dreams that I had? What about the pain and torture my child underwent while dying?
My nightmares will haunt me forever. Anything that belonged to my child will bring the memories of death back like a wave. My sadness will overwhelm me forever and my silent fury against my own weakness will kill me. Can I ever forgive that man? Can I ever forget that act after pardoning him? Will you?

"Gone but not forgotten," was a phrase often used during the Vietnam War to let soldiers who were prisoners there know that they were still remembered by their U.S. families.
Today, Deborah Crane, president and founder of Treats for Troops, has made it her company's mission to let the thousands of military men and women serving overseas know that they too are remembered back home.
Treats for Troops provides an easy and convenient way for anyone to send care packages to the troops year-round. The company's Web site offers gift packages with snacks, supplies and essentials to make a soldier's life a little bit easier.
While sponsors send thousands of packages through Treats for Troops over the holidays, Crane believes it is important to do so any time of the year.
"Our mission is to provide support for our troops all year long, not just at the holidays. Sending a package in the summer lets the troops know they're not forgotten," she said.
Treats for Troops recently launched a "Christmas in July" promotion featuring summer packages in special red, white and blue tote bags with names like "Old Glory," "Picnic Pack," "Summer Smiles" and "Three Cheers." The packages contain a variety of all-American treats and gifts, including small American flags; Tootsie Rolls wrapped in patriotic paper and sugar cookies decorated in American colors; summer "picnic" fare like lemonade and Gatorade; and outside toys like beach balls and kites.
In addition, there are "Beat the Heat" packages that contain things to help soldiers keep cool, like MiraCool Bandanas, wet wipes, sunscreen and bug repellent.
Any e-mails and notes from soldiers are forwarded by Treats for Troops to the sponsors who send packages.

Food For All The Animals
The wolves in Yellowstone National Park and the pack's primary food source, elk, continue to support the park's scavenger community. Wolves are so important to the survival of scavengers that scientists continue to wonder what the scavengers did until the wolves were reintroduced to the park a decade ago.
The Food for the Masses project is a broad-scaled effort designed to quantify the diversity and abundance of species that rely on wolf kills in the park. These include the black bear and grizzly bear, bald eagle, golden eagle, raven, magpie, coyote and fox.
Scientists have learned that wolves mediate the flow of food by controlling the timing and quantity of the hunt. The pack contributes significantly to the biodiversity of the region.

Five Tips On Your Children & Television
Television can be one of the worst influences on your child. But that doesn't mean that it has to be! By following these tips you can help your child get the benefits watching television without becoming a dazed little "couch potato."
1. Establish limits on how much TV your children watch. You should do this at a very young age but even if your child is older and has already got used to watching too much TV it is not too late to start putting limits on TV watching time.
It is recommended that children under age 18 months do not watch television at all. While this may be difficult for you if you are a couch potato yourself, you may find that cutting back on TV is good for you as well.
For children between the age of 18 months and three years of age, I recommend no more than 1/2 hour of TV per day. And for that 1/2 hour you should choose something such as Sesame Street.
For children between the ages of 3 years and 6 years old, I recommend setting the limit at 1 hour of television per day.
After age 6 you can set the limit at 2 hours. That should be good limit for your child throughout their developmental period. Once they get to their teen years you may want to become more lenient as teens may rebel against too much control.
2. Watch TV with your child instead of just leaving them to watch it by themselves. When you watch the TV with your child, they are less likely to go into a harmful "TV trance." It's good for you and your child to discuss what is on the screen. This will make the experience more thought provoking.
3. Never offer TV as a reward. You shouldn't associate television as something that "good children" get to watch. You should also not use taking away TV as a punishment. When you use TV as a punishment or as a reward it places too much importance on TV in the first place.

Fascist rocker loses her job!
He's called Lycantrop. His article arrived directly to Viking's boss, before being published somewhere. Nobody knows how he got the address and the real name! This is how a few hours later Francesca Ortolani aka Viking, 23 year old video editor working for an American film maker and productions company, was dismissed.
We don't know much about Francesca's boss. She greets him on the booklet of her cd "Gloucester Road". He's called James, but we don't know if this is the real name. We know that he's an old man, a film maker, a producer, he's american, he's a naturalist. I knew the story from Ashtree Records Press Room's spokesman Magnus Torricelli, an Italian blacklisted journalist who lives in the States, good friend of Viking's. "He must have stolen the address" says Magnus "I can't explain it. Francesca has never shown the videos on which she was working, so that nobody could relate her to J. and his team. This Lycantrop has no face, we don't know him. He's too coward to show his face."
The British documentary Lycantrop wrote about is "Hate Rock" produced by Neil Mackay, awarded journalist and opinionist in Britain, who met Viking in March 2005 for an interview. I asked Magnus what the interview was for: "The interview was about white power music... you know, Francesca is a nationalist and she dedicates much of her music to these ideas. She's a well known songwriter and producer in this scene, so she was included in the documentary".

Who's piloting this? Bush, Blair and Berlusconi. Viking's university La Sapienza in Rome should expel her, but the Faculty of Engineering must be corrupted in the same game. I'm external to the matter, I'm not "building my own alibi like Donal MacIntyre", I'm external even though I'm one of those 17000 downloaders (Magnus says the number is not updated), so I decided to meet Francesca Ortolani, the young singer Viking, for some questions. She meets me in front of the Faculty of Engineering and she asks me if I want to drink something hot. She looks friendly and I can tell Lycantrop her hair is true. She doesn't look neither like a nazi terrorist nor a member of the NATO. She has a teenage face, she's very shy, but she's a determined woman.
I ask her what she will do with Lycantrop. "I don't know" she replies "I want to know who he is. I usually don't proceed against those who slander me, but this guy involved too many people in his stories and I don't want to see people fall for me, so I'd do it, I'd bring an action against him if the story doesn't stop here, but I'm not sure the other mentioned people in the article would be happy".
She tells me about her job "I respect James' decision. This won't corrode our friendship. I understand his dreads. He worked a life to get his position. He's a great professionist, he formed a great team and I feel happy because I have been a little part of it. My work was to make trailers of his videos for the web and other channels. I was also starting composing some soundtracks for his documentaries".

Lycantrop also accuses Viking to present her new album to Italy strategically during the campaign, to help Silvio Berlusconi and Forza Italia to get votes and sympathies for some of their initiatives such as the making of motorways, high-speed railways, re-introduction of nuclear power in this country. He accuses Magnus Torricelli "who lives in the States" to work behind and shuffle the cards writing that the documentary censured Viking, taking the attention on those censured parts, involving Neil Mackay and company as contributors to this hidden game. "I have never known this Neil Mackay, I don't know if he's tall or short, fat or slim" says Magnus "We aren't making any hidden game, instead I think and I wrote that the documentary censured Viking".
Viking, a mysterious silent girl, looks at me first and after blowing on the hot tea cup she tells me "The Lycantrop should win a first prize for his novel. He had nothing better to do that night when he wrote the article. I don't serve any political party or candidate. This story must have been a joke but the real problem is how he got James' name and address."
I ask her if she feels spied and persecuted and she replies "I don't know. I keep on living with prudence and responsibility. This time I don't think I'm the persecuted one and I have no bug...". Viking alludes to the fact that the article was put personally, not posted from a remote place, in the postal boxes of James and Magnus in USA. They live in different towns and states, they have never met before and they are only friends because they are friends of Viking's.
The author is unknown, the target is unknown, Viking knows only that Lycantrop maybe knows Italian or somebody translated the article for him. James received a version in English and Magnus received the Italian version. Francesca didn't receive a copy of it. She doesn't know if the producer of "Hate Rock" and company received a copy because she heard nothing from them. She doesn't exclude more copies will be spread in Europe, so she's waiting. We don't know much about Francesca's boss. She greets him on the booklet of her cd "Gloucester Road". He's called James, but we don't know if this is the real name. We know that he's an old man, a film maker, a producer, he's american, he's a naturalist. I knew the story from Ashtree Records Press Room's spokesman Magnus Torricelli, an Italian blacklisted journalist who lives in the States, good friend of Viking's. "He must have stolen the address" says Magnus "I can't explain it. Francesca has never shown the videos on which she was working, so that nobody could relate her to J. and his team. This Lycantrop has no face, we don't know him. He's too coward to show his face."
The British documentary Lycantrop wrote about is "Hate Rock" produced by Neil Mackay, awarded journalist and opinionist in Britain, who met Viking in March 2005 for an interview. I asked Magnus what the interview was for: "The interview was about white power music... you know, Francesca is a nationalist and she dedicates much of her music to these ideas. She's a well known songwriter and producer in this scene, so she was included in the documentary".
If you think that under the political campaign everything is permitted you should read the article he wrote. The writer has a vivid fantasy!
Lycantrop investigates Berlusconi's relationship with British media: "The Italians are not stupid and they understand that Berlusconi is controlling television, but they don't know that he also makes his propaganda with the friends of the NATO through the British television, the sanguinary face of angel Francesca "Viking" Ortolani and the sex-symbol Donal MacIntyre. Francesca Ortolani imported the documentary to Italy through a long passionate review so that she could capture the attention on herself and her friends. Meanwhile Donal MacIntyre builds his own alibi as anti-nazi saying that he was attacked by some of these undermen. People don't know that Francesca Ortolani aspires to work for the NATO and while she finishes to study, she has been inserted in the media well, to make her propaganda with subliminal messages, working as video editor for an American company. Who's piloting this? Bush, Blair and Berlusconi. Viking's university La Sapienza in Rome should expel her, but the Faculty of Engineering must be corrupted in the same game. Many professors work for companies that produce military devices."
I'm external to the matter, I'm not "building my own alibi like Donal MacIntyre", I'm external even though I'm one of those 17000 downloaders (Magnus says the number is not updated), so I decided to meet Francesca Ortolani, the young singer Viking, for some questions. She meets me in front of the Faculty of Engineering and she asks me if I want to drink something hot. She looks friendly and I can tell Lycantrop her hair is true. She doesn't look neither like a nazi terrorist nor a member of the NATO. She has a teenage face, she's very shy, but she's a determined woman.
I ask her what she will do with Lycantrop. "I don't know" she replies "I want to know who he is. I usually don't proceed against those who slander me, but this guy involved too many people in his stories and I don't want to see people fall for me, so I'd do it, I'd bring an action against him if the story doesn't stop here, but I'm not sure the other mentioned people in the article would be happy".
She tells me about her job "I respect James' decision. This won't corrode our friendship. I understand his dreads. He worked a life to get his position. He's a great professionist, he formed a great team and I feel happy because I have been a little part of it. My work was to make trailers of his videos for the web and other channels. I was also starting composing some soundtracks for his documentaries".

Far from perfect: the complex game of suburban life
Most people in seemingly idyllic and ideal communities really live lives of...well, quiet desperation. Beneath the surface of peaceful and calm surroundings is a harsh, brutal world. It is in such places that the elements and principles of Darwinian evolution are applied in a social setting. There's plenty of backstabbing, betrayed allegiances, deception, and manipulation. All of this is, of course, occurring under the pretenses of being “good neighbors” and “close acquaintances.” Underneath it all, some are inclined to believe, is the worst possible manifestation of social anxiety.
Social anxiety may not be the only cause of this unusual game of deception and counter-deception going on in seemingly quiet areas, but it is often cited as one of the main factors. Somehow, the competitive nature that is implanted in children finds ways to manifest itself, even in such peaceful and theoretically stress-free locales. In some cases, it is rather simple and unobtrusive, such as one housewife making a remark or two about her having a better husband or children than her neighbor. It could be safe to say the two are friends, but share a mild rivalry between them.
However, social anxiety can also lead to some actions that can be considered extreme and unsavory within the context of the communities they happen. While “Desperate Housewives” may simply be a TV show, the harsh fact is that one of the reasons for the show being a huge hit is that it rings true. Certainly, some of the story arcs and events are well-entrenched in the realm of extremity, but most suburban residents can feel the motivation behind them and empathize with characters and the often silly twists. In an interestingly large number of cases, some viewers have even mentioned that, as extreme as some actions have been, they had seriously considered doing such “desperate” deeds at one point or another.
Apart from the backstabbing, the suburban environment has sometimes led residents to develop a bit of status anxiety on the side. For one reason or another, certain residents of suburban areas (housewives seem particularly prone) become moderately obsessed with the idea of appearing as close to “ideal” as possible. This can result in some “anal-retentive” behavior and obsession with perfection.
In attempting to attain the image of “perfection” for whatever role they are most prominent in, some people develop an acute sensitivity to any perceived threat to their status. This status anxiety can also lead to some subtle hostility. Activities can range from making snide remarks about one person's hospitality and hosting skills during a party to blatant sabotage of a rival's rosebushes.
This status anxiety, combined with the social competitiveness, has created two things. First, it has made an excellent place to study the the validity of applying Darwinian evolution into a social setting. These sorts of environments serve as a near-perfect testing area to see individuals playing their social games in an attempt to secure a goal, though the goal can sometimes be “playing the game” in itself. Facelifts Offer Youthful Appearance
Facelifts, also known as rhytidectomies, offer those wishing to improve their appearance dramatically. There are several facelift procedures, but simple facelifts do not result in the ‘wind-tunnel’ effect or ‘surprised look’ that is sometimes caused by more extreme facelifts. Recovery from a simple facelift is easier and has fewer complications than the more extreme variety of facelifts. During a simple facelift procedure, the surgeon will make incisions that follow the contours of the ear, but hidden in your hair. This will produce modest, permanent scarring in most cases. The best improvement with a facelift is seen in the jowl area and under the neck, while the folds around the mouth, commonly known as nasal-labial folds, are not usually improved much with a simple facelift.
During surgery, after the ear contour incision is made, the skin is undermined—pulled upwards and back toward the scalp line. The excess skin is removed and is stitched or stapled into place. This is a typical, simple facelift.
A newer technique is the ‘deep plane facelift’, which involves going under the muscle of the face and pulling it along with the skin to essentially make the facelift last longer. Some doctors choose a laser or chemical peel before the surgery is performed, however it should be a light treatment only—anything too deep adds serious risks. Recovery and risk for deep plane facelifts are more extensive than for a classic facelift.
Because the muscles and skin are being manipulated, it is common for there to be some bruising, and the deeper the procedure, the more bruising will occur. For deeper and more complex surgeries, the pain, swelling and risks can also rise. Expressing Love Should Be Natural
I looked in her eyes and I knew that she was in love with me. Her eyes told me that. I had asked him to meet me at five pm, and he was there at three thirty. I knew what was happening. His movements and his heartbeat told me all. I could see the fast steps that became faster when she reached me. I knew then. I was talking to him and he recited some old love poems he had written. He never made it appear as if the poems were written for somebody else. I knew that he was now reading them for me. Love, how to express love? Does it need any training? Or any books to read? Do love expressions need any guidance about what to do and what to avoid? It is natural.
Love is a divine feeling. Love is not for ordinary people who suspect a motive everywhere. Love is not for moneymakers who want to look for an opportunity everywhere. Love is not for those who are looking for a body. Love is for those who are searching for a soul that will give them heavenly joy. Love is for those who want to talk in silence. Love is for dreamers. Love is for losers, because they lose themselves in love. Love is for one who forgets the world in love. Love is a supreme feeling.
Despite all I read about relationships, break-ups, marriages and divorces, when I look at a couple in honest love I see a divine sight. I forget all my worries for the moment. for I am watching what God created, but we polluted. I watch love, a very innocent love and I love that. 16th March is celebrated as the day when whatever you do is right. This is a very exciting thought. I searched for the origin but could not find any clue about how this day began. What precisely does this mean - Everything you do is right.
Let me put my ideas across about this day. In our everyday life whenever we do anything, it can be called right or wrong. Many a times, not only others, but we ourselves are in doubt about the right action. This creates anxiety and makes every decision making job a tough job. This dilemma about right or wrong takes the pleasure away from life.
Children, especially very young children don't have any such dilemma. They do whatever they want and they do it with fun. They enjoy everything and never question if their action was right or wrong. They leave that decision to their parents. What a tension-free life do these children live! Don't you envy them?
For one day, say we drop our critical analysis of all our actions and do whatever we think best and don't think twice about why? Normally, if you have to take a decision about firing an inefficient employee and save money for your company, the decision is tough. Either way, you feel bad. On 16th, if you take a decision about any such issue, treat it as right. This is a very good concept to feel stress-free in life. If we follow this everyday in our life, we can beat a lot of stress.
Think, deliberate, weigh pros and cons, and discuss. After considering every aspect, take a decision and then stop analyzing that again. Most of us do all this, but continue agonizing ourselves after taking a decision. Does this help? No. This is a sure formula for a stressed life. Beat stress in the way I suggested above and relax. All of us make our life difficult with our style of functioning. It is for us to change our style and enjoy living. Let us celebrate each day of our life as 'everything you do is right' day.
